We got our Brooklyn Bedding latex mattress!

I first posted about 3 1/2 months ago, looking for advice on purchasing a latex mattress. My husband was not entirely on board with latex but, after looking over some of the info, agreed that it was the way to go for us. I proposed the Brooklyn Bedding Bamboo Bliss and the cost was a sticking point for a while, plus he was understandably worried about ordering something as big as a mattress online sight unseen. So… we held off on the purchase. One night we were watching Treehouse Masters (one of DH’s favorite shows) and he saw them hauling in a Brooklyn Bedding mattress so suddenly that made it seem more legit.

Long story short, DH got on BB’s website and decided we could spring for the Aloe Alexis! After chatting with Mario we ordered a 6 and it arrived something like 9 days later. (Somewhere in the 7-10 estimate anyway.) When it arrived and we got it out of the box our initial reaction was “what the heck?” It didn’t puff up as much as we’d seen in the videos. It turns out that a king size ships out in TWO boxes and I didn’t realize that. Only one had arrived and the other one - the top half layer of the mattress - showed up separately the next day. Whew.

We both moved around a bit the first night just because it was different than what we were used to but the next morning, DH woke up and said he didn’t have a headache. That was his first morning without a headache in weeks. I have a deep curve in my lower back (which is another way of saying I have a round bubble butt, almost J-Lo style) so lying down on a flat surface has always been uncomfortable. On the other hand, our old lumpy mattress with too-soft areas didn’t give enough support to my lower back. What I love most about our new latex mattress is how it ‘gives’ under my curvy areas like hip, butt, and shoulders but doesn’t just form a bowled divot. It fills in around me to keep the support where I need it. I hope that makes sense.

We’ve slept on it several nights now and LOVE it so far. I don’t think I’ll ever go back to a spring style. Thank you so much to Phoenix and others on the forum for all the great information and advice. I know we never would have ended up with this bed without it.

Hi ItsMyNaptime,

Thanks for taking the time to share such detailed comments and feedback … I appreciate it!

It’s also great to see that your DH came on board (even though it took a TV show) and that things are working out so well for both of you.

You certainly made a great quality/value choice … and congratulations on your new mattress
