Weird Body shape without much dough

Hi, First of all I’m pretty new with the form situation so apologies if I’m doing this wrong.
I’m in the market for a new mattress and am having trouble with selection because my body is sort of a weird shape. I am 6’2" and 130 pounds, so think the lankiest person you have ever met and I’m a bit thinner. I find most mattress help/recommendations don’t even include someone in my size range as an option so I’m worried I’m gonna end up with something I’m unhappy with, especially because I have a pretty limited amount of money to spend (at least I’m starting to realize, I thought I was being pretty spendy before I started looking around here). I’ve got about 1500 dollars in the bank for a Queen size mattress in the DFW area. It’s worth mentioning my partner is 5’2" and also about 130lbs so neither of us are gonna put much stress on the bed. I currently have a Casper Essential which has actually done me fairly well for the last 7 or so years, but I am looking to go from a full to a Queen so I’m gonna have to get something new. I’ve not been to a mattress store yet so I’m mostly looking for ideas of what to look for, as I’m not completely certain on what kinds of materials my body works best with yet, though I have a couple options I’m considering before I even go shopping.
The mattresses I’ve selected are mostly fairly plush since as I understand the lighter you are the more plush you want, plus I’m a side sleeper which I think also means go plush.

https://casper.com/products/casper-dream-hybrid The casper dream I sort of like the idea of since it’s a casper which I have now and have liked more than other beds I’ve used, and it’s a hybrid which from reading here is generally speaking a good thing, however casper gets not the best reviews here so I’m definitely not sold on it.

https://www.costco.com/sealy-posturepedic-carver-11-firm-or-13.5-plush-mattress.product.100694157.html This Sealy Posturepedic (plush) mattress is extremely cheap and I’ve been given pretty rave reviews from friends though haven’t seen any mention of it here. I like the price and the delivery seems pretty nifty but again not sold on it.

I’ve also been given pretty rave reviews of the Leesa Legend hybrid from a friend (who is not quite my size) who actually went out on some advice he read from this forum.

I’m open to other suggestions or if there is a good place to go try I’m down for a road trip. I’m also understanding if the advice is “you don’t have enough money for something that fits you” in which case I’ll probably get the costco one for now and save for a super nice king in a couple of years. Thanks!

It would be helpful to define your budget. Costco certainly is an option, but you have landed in a forum of experts who can guide to to a great mattress for your preferences in just about any budget.

Keep in mind that your budget needs to include a great sturdy foundation and a pillow/s to match. You have to be thinking about the whole bedding system.

Unless you and your significant other have very different comfort preferences you should be fine on the same firmness mattress. You are likely not to need a zoned mattress as that could be complicated with the height differential.

You have come to the right place. What size mattress( you can get that king now and not have to wait if you have the room) and price range, and we can get to work :grinning:

I just noticed that you have a $1500 budget. Of the 3 mattresses you mentioned the Leesa Legend is likely the best choice of that group.

Fortunately, The Mattress Factory in your neck of the woods would be a great place to start. They can start you by checking your posture and alignment on mattresses in their showroom and fit your and your lovely significant other with a mattress and foundation easily within your budget and with a quality mattress made to order right here in the US.

Thank you so much for the response!
I’ve got a few hundred dollars give or take for a foundation so I’ve definitely kept that in mind for the purchase, and I have a coop pillow which (to my neck at least) is doing a pretty good job as a pillow.

I think you’re right in not needing a zoned mattress, we are both pretty aligned with hating her current mattress so I think we will be totally good with something the same firmness.

I will definitely check out the mattress factory, I’ve done a bit of reading about them on the forum and they seem like a great way to go about things. Thank you so much, I’ll keep you posted on what ends up happening!
