I’m 180lbs 6ft. I usually sleep on side/back. I will be returning the Casper original, because when laying on my back, I would quickly sink in and feel pressure on the small of my back. Even side sleeping wasn’t all that comfortable.
I’ve read that side sleepers need a soft/plush bed, but I’ve also read that nest beds then to run softer then normal?
Any advice or experience with Alexander Signature Hybrid?
P.S since nest offers swap outs of a comfort layer, would a latex be softer or more firm?
Sorry that you’ve had the ongoing pressure point problems with your Casper, Robin Brain. Good to hear that you’re finally returning the Original; from the past chats we’ve had, it sounds like you’ve done your best to work things out with it and now it’s best to simply move on .
I’ll tag @NestBedding here so that they’ll have a chance to answer your questions directly. If you haven’t tried the Forum “Search” function already, use “Nest Bedding” as a search term to find lots of lively consumer chatter and other Phoenix insights regarding the Alexander Signature Hybrid.
Not following your question here; the Alexander Signature Hybrid doesn’t use latex or offer a latex comfort exchange but an exchange for a different firmness of the TitanChil Endurance foam. Could you expand on that a little?

I thought they also allow you to swap the foam layer for a latex layer? I might be mistaken, or maybe you have to pay the difference in price between the two layers
If the TitanChil Endurance Foam® comfort layer can be exchanged for a latex option, it isn’t mentioned on the Alexander Signature Hybrid’sproduct page that I can find. I only see an exchange for a different firmness offered. I’m asking the question now on their Chat, but as this is a holiday/ sales weekend, I haven’t received a response, will update the post when I do. Looking forward to hearing what @NestBedding’s thoughts are .
Generally side sleepers benefit from a softer mattress. Of course weight plays into the equation as well and at 180 pounds, I’d suggest our medium Alexander Signature Hybrid. As a rule, latex foam is more responsive than memory foam and pushes back on your body more. This makes a latex mattress tend to feel firmer than a memory foam one, and between our medium latex foam and medium memory foam, the medium memory foam will feel softer. When we do a layer exchange we generally exchange for the same type of material that is originally in the mattress purchased. So a memory foam hybrid would get a memory foam layer, and a latex foam hybrid would get the latex foam layer. The reason for this is because the coil system in each type of mattress is set up specifically for the comfort material. The pocketed coils in the memory foam hybrid are slightly different than the ones in the latex foam hybrid and are designed to complement their respective foam material. We have in rare instances done a layer exchange where we sent a customer a latex layer who is on a memory foam bed and visa versa, but only after evaluating their specific issues and identifying that the alternate foam made sense for their issue. Hope this helps!
An update if anyone is interested, I went with the Nest Natural Latex in medium firmness. It was so much more comfortable then the Casper Original. I managed to visit one of their show rooms, and tested all the beds there. The Alexander Hybrids that were memory foam were ok, but not really much better then the Casper. I could easily feel the difference on the Latex Hybrid just by lying down, and it got more comfortable as I rested to test it out.
Now I just need to find a great pillow, my old one is fine, but I’ bending it slightly to get more comfortable when I’m on my side.
