I live in ZIP 34608 and as far as I can tell there are no sellers in my area that are willing to share specs, so I will likely have to buy online and make adjustments. I do not have a car and cannot uber 200 miles so that is probably out of the question. Based on my statistics, what would be a good mattress system to try first?
Stats:
I am male, and 5’10" and 146 lbs. I have an average build and body shape.
I sleep on my side primarily, and occasionally back (but that’s because my current bed is so firm).
I’m a very light sleeper and have sleep apnea when laying on my back, so I’d like something very soft. I wake up probably 10 times a night and never really get into a deep sleep.
There’s about 3.5-4 inches between the edge of my shoulder and the widest point of my chest. There’s about a 3 inch difference between my lower back and the widest point of my butt sticking out. Also maybe 0.75 inches difference between my hips and the widest point of my chest from the side.
Preferences:
Durable materials (so probably latex?)
A cooler sleep
Twin XL (room is small and can be upgraded later to King).
A good sleep trial and return, exchange policy so I can find the right thing.
Budget:
I was hoping to keep it under $800 because this seems to be a good price point for hybrids but this isn’t strict as I don’t exactly know what I need anyway.

Unfortunately, that mattress is not available to ship outside of Arizona, and I live in FL. Even if it did it would probably cost too much for shipping because they charge based on distance.
I have explored all of the other members as well and they are relatively similar, although not all of them keep it as a simple DIY design. Sleep EZ for example only has a zip-cover on the 360 Hybrid, and that one is a pillow-top I think, which I’ve had bad experiences with. DIYMattress.com did not answer the phone or call me back when I left a message, and they don’t have their shipping/return policy on the webpage so I can’t know what’s going on with them. Flexus might have a good deal with their Hybrid, I was just hoping to be able to get it without the Combi-zone because I don’t know if I need that. I’m not a big man.
I read the entire overview and beyond but I never found general recommendations based on statistics, which is why I asked here. I figured if there was someone with similar statistics I could copy them as a starting point. If that isn’t an option, it seems like all I can do is guess which will probably end up badly.

A retailer/manufacturer in Florida who we love is Fox Mattress. They are in Holly Hill. You would need to call to see what they’ve got in stock but they deliver state (and nation)wide.
If someone with similar stats is able to chime in with what they’ve found, that’d be great! I’m happy to discuss DIY builds as well from top to bottom, all foam or hybrid, and sourcing the pieces. DIY Natural and DIY Mattress are good places to start.
The Sleep EZ organic and natural mattresses allow for customization as well. Of course, anyone who is sort of doing it for you in terms of putting the pieces together will be a little more expensive than doing it yourself.
The Flexus hybrid is a good and certainly durable option. I’m also happy to evaluate anything in your price and size range beyond our Trusted Members.
