I recently purchased a Golden mattress with 8" of talalay latex over a denser foam core. I do not know the name of the model. The mattress is much firmer than the one I tried in the store. It feels great when sleeping on my back, but does not give much on my side, which is my primary sleep position. I am having trouble with the pressure points at hip and shoulder and am wondering if these will soften over time. How long should I wait before giving up and adding a softer topper to this bed? And what sort of topper and thickness should I consider?
Hi Swigs,
There is more about the normal break in and adjustment period for a new mattress in post #2 here and while it varies from mattress to mattress and person to person … it can be anywhere from a few days to a few months but the most common time frame would be in the range of 30 days or so. There are also some other suggestions in the post I linked that may be helpful as well.
If it does turn out that you need to add some additional softness and pressure relief and decide to add a topper then post #2 here and the topper guidelines and sources it links to can help you choose a topper that has the best chance of success with the least possible risks.
