What is convoluted/sculpted latex foam supposed to do for you exactly? ;-)

What would you say is the difference/improvement of sleeping on a 2" convoluted topper that was cut down from a medium-density slab vs. sleeping on a 2" soft topper? The former will have less latex in it and thus offer less support(?)…but offer the benefit of greater airflow?

I hear a lot about “pressure point” relief, but do the experts think convoluted achieves this better than regular latex?

(Unfortunately, I don’t have the option of testing out convoluted without purchasing it and having to potentially return it.)

Thank you.

Hey susu123,

Nice to see you again and thanks for your question  .

Interesting question, susu123. When speaking of toppers, think in terms of comfort, which is about the comfort feel and pressure point relieving qualities of the mattress. Support refers to how well your mattress controls how far down different parts of your body sink into the mattress and provides correct spinal alignment, a function provided by the mattress’s support core. The difference/ improvement of sleeping on a 2" convoluted topper that was cut down from a medium-density latex slab vs. sleeping on a 2" soft topper would therefore be one of “comfort feel” and not of “less support” per se. Also for an apples to apples comparison, are you speaking of both toppers being the same type latex, dunlop/ natural latex for example?

This may be a question to ask of TMU expert trusted member FloBeds, as they include a convoluted natural latex comfort layer in all of their mattresses and also offer a 2" convoluted natural latex mattress topper.

FloBeds sellslatex samples, you may want to contact them regarding a sample of their convoluted natural latex for better understanding its unique properties, you can reach them at: [email protected] or via chat on FloBeds’ website. Sounds as though you’re still tweaking your DIY mattress a bit?

Thanks,
Sensei
