It’s called the Sealy ‘DSx sense and respond spring’ or the ‘SRx’ I think, depending on where you are in the world. It may have other names too. It could be called ‘SS’ spring in the US.
To be clear, this is not the double offset system they use in their basic range, or a pocket coil system.
It’s actually more expensive than pocket coil beds, and I’m trying to find more info on the spring type.
Is it a type of continuous coil like Serta use? Or something completely different?
Someone suggested that it could be something like a Verticoil. I found a Verticoil bed where I am and it’s a lot cheaper than these Sealy’s.
The Sealy Sense and Respond coils, also called DSx , is, unfortunately like most of the components of their beds, not transparent in their construction. The marketing ‘hype’ is
The coils ‘sense’ body weight and ‘respond’ accordingly. Most of Sealys components are proprietary or are licensed exclusively through them, and it’s difficult to even find basics for their springs, like coil gauge and coil count, making it hard to assess anything about them.
These appear to be exclusive to their ‘Crown Jewel’ posturpedic line, which most of the mattress componentry is proprietarily formulated and named foams and materials with no info on details for them; this is one of their ‘Premium’ mattresses and therefore comes with a ‘premium cost’.
The test would be how they feel for any given sleeper….you might check with any Sealy showroom/licensees in your area to see if they have any info, but in the competitive arena of the big mattress brands, details tend to be very difficult to find.
Possibly one of our forum members has some additional info on these for you and can chime in!
Thanks! I like Sealy’s double offset springs, and I actually own an old double offset mattress. I was looking at replacing it and came across this DSx spring. I tried it and it seems to feel not unlike a pocket coil in that it doesn’t ‘bounce’ like the connected springs, but I don’t think it’s an individual system, judging by some videos I’ve seen.
I don’t really like pocket coils, and I just wanted to find out a bit more about this DSx thing to figure out if it’s worth the premium or if I should just go for the good old double offset system.
