What label/tag may I expect on a new custom made latex mattress

What information may I realistically expect to see on a label/tag attached to my new custom size mattress composed of two 3" latex layers?

I spoke to a mattress maker and to my surprise I was told that he cannot “guarantee” there will be a label on any of my two latex layers.

I’d expect information such as: manufacturer (e.g. Latex International, Radium), product id (showing dunlop or talalay, “certified organic” or 100% natural or blended), firmness/density (e.g. ILD 30-34). What is the industry practice as far labeling custom made latex mattresses? My concern is, that I’m opting for a top quality product at top price and would like to ensure that I receive what I’m paying for. On this forum I read that somebody ordered blended latex but received one labeled "100% natural instead. Therefore I conclude it is possible to order “100% natural” latex, but receive blended latex instead, especially if there is no label?

Hi nept,

The information that is required on the law tag of a mattress varies from state to state but the standard information on a law tag (attached to the mattress cover) would include information about the manufacturer, the percentage content of the materials in your mattress (it won’t generally specify which type of latex) along with information confirming that it has passed the fire code, manufacturing date etc. You can see more information about what is included in a standard law tag here.

As you were told … the internal layers themselves often (and usually) have no specific identifying information and it would depend on where in the core the layer was cut from (whether the cut included any label that was attached to the original core).

For the most part you would be relying on the integrity and reputation of the manufacturer to ensure that what you ordered was what was in your mattress.
