Will I like a flobed vzone if I love med firm foam beds?

I’m currently 185 but have recently gained from being 145 a few years ago . Very Curvy top and bottom .I’m a side sleeper and I sleep with my arm under my pillow .
I have slept in the past on bed in a box type memory foam mattresses from Sam’s ,the really old one I had was very medium firm ,I didn’t sink in much like a tempur pedic but unfortunately my dog destroyed it . I occasionally had numb hands in it but I loved it . I then got a new sam’s foam bed and it was way too soft and my lower back felt like it was breaking ,so much pain .I’m currently on another med firm feels like mostly poly foam bed, no sink like memory foam ,my back is happy but on the side I’m sleeping on my rib cage hurts,my upper outer thigh is burning from the pressure . it feels like my back loves firm but my ribcage and hip/leg disagree .I really hate springy coil beds,I like a bed to be stable . I went to try some beds, purple was okay but it felt strange ,nectar felt too hard and hot, nectar copper was just okay , I actually really liked the tempur-pedic adapt in medium, the pro adabt medium felt like it was too soft ,the pro adabt firm was a little too firm while the luxe breeze firm felt great and the luxe adapt firm felt like the most comfortable bed I’ve ever been in, it was the perfect medium firm Devine luxury . Then I started worrying because I keep hearing side sleepers need softer beds??
Then I saw the vzone concept which sounds perfect so I could have a firm back, soft shoulder area and a bit softer around the hips . Should I just order the tempur-pedic adabt medium which feels like the old bed I loved with only a thin memory foam sink and medium firm or go for the plush feeling luxe adapt that felt like heaven but I fear if that thicker sink will make me hot and cause back pain later . Or should I take a risk on the vzone bed ? I can’t try latex to see if I like it in my area unfortunately . I also considered tempflow memory foam mattresses because I believe they use better quality foam than tempur pedic, have a unique cooling system and have comparisons to the adapt medium and the luxe adapt that I really liked so much for better prices but I can’t try them unfortunately either . I really just want to make the right decision and be comfortable again

Im not an expert. Im just a real picky consumer.

I am 5 ft 11in, 225 pounds. I sleeo 90% on back and 10% on back.I have had a history of lower back pain.

I was going back and forth between Tempurpedic Pro Adapt Firm and Luxe Adaot Firm.

I felt that PAF was more supporive for llower back and less confortable. PAF was not that great for side sleeping. PAF has an old school Original Classic Firm feel to it. I felt like I was on PAF.

I felt LAF was amazing and the most comfortable mattress Ive ever laid on. You melt into it. I was concerned about support for lower back when I was on my back. It felt supportive enough, but PAF was more supportive. The LAF is just so conforming and pressure relieving. The comfort of the LAF is overwhelming.and hard to describe. Ive never ever felt a mattress like this. The best way to describe it is a firm and soft marshmallow. Somshow….the LAF is firm and soft in the same mattress!!! Perfection!!! LAF really feels like a medium firm and only slightly firmer than Pro Adapt Medium. I will be ordering next week.

I dont like the feel of latex, but it might be for you. With that aaid, you might want to rry out FloBeds VZone. I have not tried it. What is the genius of it? Adjustability!!! You can change the VZone or swap out base layers. Almost no other bed can do that.

Tempurpedic Luxe Adaot Firm is my dream mattress and Im ordering it. I will do a review after I sleep on it for a month. Mt feelings might change!!! But maybe not!!!

billyidol - How do you like the Tempurpedic Luxe Adapt Firm mattress thus far?

I’m regretting buying an all latex mattress and looking for other, hybrid or other types. I have the same issues with aches and pains as the OP.

Lu,

My Tempurpedic Luxe Adapt Firm has not beeb delivered yet. Im excited for it to get here though!!! Will let you know about it once I get it!!!

But whether I like it or not should be irrelevant. The best judge of your mattress is you. Use the PPP that the teach at the TMU mattress tutorial. I think Preference and Pressure relief is pretty easy to judge. I feel the key hard metric is Posture or support. Is your spine aligned? When on your back, is the hips/butt divot too extreme or angled? Maybe get a partner to photograph you standing up and then on your back……you should be the same. Photo on your side……spine should be straight.

My 2nd place finisher might be of interest to you. My 2nd place choice was (innerspring) Aireloom Preferred M1 Luxetop Firm. Im not recommending my favorite per se……but a family of mattresses….Preferred M1 or M2 in Firm or Plush for a total of 4 mattresses. M1 means 1 layer of microcoils….M2 means 2 kayers of mictocoils. Firm and plush refer to innerspring. At Ortho mattress, Chester is the M1 and Westchester is the M2. Avoid the Macys Aireloom because they have fewer coils and cheaper materials and does not feel as good. But you could go to Macys to get a taste of the Aireloom feel. I feel that the Aireloom is best innerspring mattress. I havent laid on the VI Spring $30k plus mattresses though.

I did back to back testing of Tempurpedic Luxe Adapt Firm and Aireloom Preferred M1 Luxetop Firm. They are both amazing. I felt the M1 has 5% better back support (on back), but LAF was 30% more comfortable and pressure relieving. I felt back support on LAF was adequate and more comfortable….so thats why I ordered it. Was the M1 comfortable? Heck yeah. The M2 was even more comfortable and pressure relieving, but support was less. With that said, ignore my review and the reviews of others. With Aireloom and others……ignore a mattress tag that says Firm or Plush. A Firm might feel soft to you. A Plush might feel firm. You sleep on a mattress….not on a mattress tag. Try my recommendations….but feel free to totally hate them. Latex seems to be the big on TMU……and I tried a few all latex mattresses and didnt like them. I felt that Tempurpedic felt better. I realize that Tempur wont last as long and I would love to know the ILD of each layer. I ordered the Tempurpedic Luxe Adapt Firm because its best for me. The best person to help you find your best mattess is…….YOU!!!

I hope this helps and let me know what you get.

Scorpion,

I liked Tempurpedic over TempFlow. I like the TempFlow Glacier Supreme best of all the TempFlows. But I liked Tempurpedic Luxe Adapt Firm the best.
