Hi there Bean1378,
Welcome to the Mattress UnderGround and welcome to the community.
Choosing the right mattress can definitely be overwhelming, there are just so many choices, and many of them are similar choices, kind of like twins from different mothers. Based on your preferences and needs, both the WinkBed Luxury Firm and the Leesa Legend could be great options. Although, I have some questions and concerns.
The WinkBed Luxury Firm offers a supportive yet comfortable hybrid design, which works well for heavier individuals, providing good edge support and balance between firmness and softness. However, it tends to have a bit more bounce and might not give you that cloud-like feeling you’re looking for. On the other hand, the Leesa Legend is also a hybrid but with a plush, pressure-relieving design that’s ideal for side sleepers. It combines coils and foam layers, offering more softness while still providing solid support for your hips and back, but the question is, will it be enough for a 230lb person over the long haul.
If you’re seeking something that feels softer and more cloud-like, the Leesa Legend might be a better fit, especially if your wife experiences hip pain.
While the WinkBed is a great choice for those who prefer a firmer, supportive mattress with a little bounce, the Leesa Legend could be a better option if you’re aiming for a more plush feel that alleviates pressure points and feels softer without sacrificing support for your wife. I am a firm believer that in this category of mattresses, the support layer is the first key to a good mattress. If the support layer is not robust enough to support the plus person in the pair, you will have one unhappy person and one happy person. The goal of course, is to have both sleepers happy.
Given that both of you are side sleepers, a mattress that offers good pressure relief for your shoulders and hips is essential, and the Leesa Legend excels in that area, providing the cloud-like feel you desire. If you are willing to consider other options, something like the the Brooklyn Bedding Titan Plus Elite might also be a good alternative, offering even a better balance of softness and support. The Titan Plus Elite, like the Wink, is designed toward plus sized folks. The Titan Plus Elite, combines some of what its sister brand Leesa has to offer with a cooler, dual spring technology, with the Elite, boasting a 13.5guage very supportive spring support, intended specifically for plus size, additionally with a microcoil layer in the comfort section of the mattress to ensure additional air flow so the mattress remains cooler to sleep on. The Titan Elite boasts a luxurious feeling, side and back sleeping comfortable 2" eurotop style design, that offers side sleeping comfort, and supportive enough for back sleepers.
Ultimately, it comes down to how much you prioritize softness and pressure relief (Leesa Legend) or more bounce and support (WinkBed Luxury Firm). Or something that offers a bit better support than the Wink, with a more luxury comfort layer than both.
You are definitely on the right track. I thought I would throw that other option from the same genre and price range of mattresses. Keep in mind, there are a plethera of options from Trusted Members here on the Mattress UnderGround. I was following in your research and presented a mattress is a rather new entry (since August 2024). I was so impressed with the titan plus elite mattress after testing it at the Las Vegas Market, I ordered one myself for our guest room.
In any case hopefully this will offer you some clarity and food for thought.
Maverick.
