wool

I’m so glad I found your site. I think I’m now informed enough to start a search, leaning toward latex. Thanks to you I know some reputable places to go.
Wool makes me itch. I’ve noticed that wool is a component in some mattresses or toppers. Is that going to be an issue for me?

Hi jstorm,

I doubt that it would be an issue because it’s in the quilting and is covered with cotton (usually organic cotton) so there is no direct contact. In some cases … a wool allergy isn’t an allergy to the wool but to some of the chemicals used in cleaning and processing of wool (which aren’t used in organic wool) although of course this isn’t always the case.

To be on the safe side, you could always ask for a small sample of the cover material and rub it against your skin just to make sure but it’s not likely to be an issue for most people.

I have a few Milsurp Russian wool blankets and find them prety scratchy/irritating. I use them as throw blankets and at the cabin. I have a wool top on my SleepEZ and have no issues whatsoever. It sleeps much cooler than my previous so called latex Sealy. We also use a typical mattress pad as we have always done.
