Wrong dimension mattress enquiry

Dear sir,

I find your website and the details about various mattress types and technologies very interesting and comprehensive.

I had a very simple question to ask. I had ordered for a customized mattress from a dealer locally and the size suggested was 7 feet length (head to toe) and 8 feet wide (side to side of mattress).

However, the manufacturer mixed up the sizes and made a mattress which was 8 feet length and 7 feet wide. The mattress type was ā€˜top of the line’ available with the manufacturer and a brief description is as follows:

The manufacturer is now recommending, I use the same mattress and just rotate it 90 degrees. I am not sure if that is the correct approach considering the sleep posture and the spring technology below it. I seek your opinion on it.

Appreciate your time on this and your kind advise

Best regards

Hi tejas40,

If there is no zoning in the layers and components in the mattress then turning it 90 degrees shouldn’t affect how it feels or performs so the only real effect would be aesthetic.

If the mattress is zoned then turning it 90 degrees could certainly affect things because the zones would no longer line up with your body.

Regardless of any of this though, if they are the ones who made the mistake and the mattress you received wasn’t what you ordered it would be up to you to decide what to do and what course of action seemed most reasonable to you. You may decide to have them rebuild it to correct it or you may decide that some other course of action or some type of compensation may be acceptable.

If you do decide to have them ā€œfixā€ it then it should only be a matter of having them replace the cover because the internal components would still be what you ordered once they are rotated 90 degrees.
