Hi Macieman.

Welcome to our Mattress Forum.

A DIY is always an exciting undertaking, and I hope you’re able to find plenty of support and resources here on TMU as you go through this process.

The “35 or 40 compression” is just that particular dealer’s way of saying ILD. It’s oddly worded, but what they’re saying is 35 ILD or 40 ILD - perhaps because they don’t believe the consumer will know what ILD means.

Would this 6" be the base for your mattress? Are you looking to add additional comfort layers as well?

You can find 6" Dunlop with Arizona Premium and 6" Talalay cores with DIY Mattress. Both of these manufacturers are Trusted Members of ours who we think very highly of, and who we believe compete with among the best in the industry in terms of quality, price, expertise, etc.

Also, the contacts at either location are DIY experts who would gladly talk through your preliminary DIY plans and help guide you towards the perfect build for your family’s needs.

I hope this helps you get started. You are, of course, always welcome to ask more questions!

Hi Nikki,

Thanks for your response.
Yes this is for the core.
I tested few shops here in Central Jersey, having just 6 " cores with medium ILD between 32 to 35. I felt it was giving good support during the back sleep & also the pressure relief during the side sleep.
So based on that, i decided to go just with the core.
Yes TMU helped me learn about the DIY latex & motivated me. Also helped understand the encyclopedia of the mattresses. Thanks TMU for this wonderful forum
