1” + 2” is not equal to 3 inches

I have read this on a vendor blog. But can’t remember where.

For the same ild , is that true ? If true , on what properties does that differs?

The more cuts, the more it reduces the original ILD. All Talalay and most dunlop toppers are cut from a 6" core. The core carries the original ILD which is what we use as the ILD rating for toppers but as you start slicing it down into toppers the ILD is reduced. In other words if you lay on the uncut core with and ILD rating of 32, and then cut that core into 2 3" layers stacked on top of each other, the feel of the uncut core would be firmer than the 2 stacked on top of each other. I would estimate it’s about 15 to 20% softer than lying on the core directly.
