Adding another topper to my 6'' base and 3'' topper...yes, no, soft or firm?

Hi there…I’m 62 and a short single sleeper who weights 225lb
trying to get down to 180lb.
I sleep equally on my side as I do on my back.

Three weeks ago I got a 6’’ firm gols latex base
, as well as a 3’’ medium talalay latex topper.
I am having some mid lumbar issues on my side as well as lower/mid back
after a while (have had this configuration 3 wks now)
I was thinking of adding a 2-3’’ soft talalay topper but my mattress company
who sold me the 3’’ talalay topper said nope, instead do the opposite:
‘instead buy a firm talalay topper as a layer between the 6’’ firm gols base
and the 3’'medium talalay topper.
Having a Firm topper between the Medium and the Dunlop could help.
You would have a more gradual sleep experience.
Rather than going softer and going right through the soft and medium.
I hope that make sense. : )

your thoughts?
i would have thought adding a soft layer would do the trick but he is suggesting
I’ll go thru it and flatten it out too quickly…they only usually suggest soft toppers
for those weighing 120lb and under.

Hi chopstix,

Thanks for your question! Unfortunately, it’s impossible to recommend a specific mattress combination for your lumbar issues. Everyone experiences mattresses differently, and the best mattress for you depends on your unique needs and preferences regarding comfort, firmness, posture, alignment, and pressure relief. There are simply too many individual factors to consider for a one-size-fits-all recommendation.

Have you tried sleeping on the 6" firm core (without the 3" med topper) to see how your back reacts?
