I am building a king size DIY mattress. I bought the Leggett and Platt Combi-zone and the bamboo/wool cover from you. I bought a 2-inch soft (20 ILD) natural dunlop latex topper from Sleep on Latex. I like the feel pretty well as far as being supportive enough for proper alignment and also soft enough for pretty good pressure relief, though I wouldn’t mind a little extra softness as long as it did not ruin the supportiveness and good alignment. My wife wants something softer that she “sinks into a little.” In hindsight, the zoned coils may not have been the best choice for her. We are both lightweights and somewhat thin (140 pounds and 155 pounds). I am a back sleeper. She changes a lot, but I think mostly sleeps on her side with a long body pillow between her knees.
I was considering adding another 2 inch topper over my existing latex to make the bed softer, but I want something good quality that will last well and not sag prematurely because my lower back hurts when the mattress sags in the middle. Do you think a blended Talalay Soft #19 from your store would feel a little softer than the 2-inch soft (20 ILD) natural dunlop latex that I already have? In combination with the current topper and coils, do you think it would allow her to “sink in” more while still maintaining decent support/alignment for me? I saw you also have a blended talalay super soft#14. Do you think that would give the result I’m looking for, or would it lack supportiveness and wear out a lot faster due to the lower density?
Thanks.
