Brief history - I began my mattress adventure earlier this summer going from an old coil mattress over to latex, unbenounced to its benefits my first buy was too firm and eventually returned for this Rejuvenate model from NSC Medical at Costco. I’m sure everyone would be quick to red flag materials such as Soy Medi Foams and Gels but the copper infused talalay and breathable mesh top layer made this a wondrous set of ingredients. My only complaint was that it felt bottomed out for being 190 pounds and returned it. Hindsight I’d probably buy a solid piece of dunlop to go under and kept it.
This is where things go left. Switching from coils to latex downplayed the importance of breathability and made it unknown to me going forward. The solution at the time was to buy a Nest Signature Hybrid to combat the bottoming out and my small brain thought the top layer would act similar to before. The fact that Nest sells the same hybrid in latex should indicate my complete lack of awareness.
Nest thankfully offered to send a latex insert for my model but once it arrives I’m worried the pillowtop material will still conserve a lot of heat and render the latex insert somewhat useless. I’ve had this mattress for months now and the return window ends in early November so I’m starting to feel pressure and unsure what to do, especially because bringing a mattress to a charity and leaving with a receipt in hopes of getting my money back feels alien at the moment.
What I’ve learned throughout these trial periods is coils aren’t as beneficial as initially thought and do more to push you out of top layers than have you sink into them so the only offset is the expense of latex. I think my quirk is needing the visual appearance of ''13 in layers but even DIY set ups only seem to add up to '‘9-’'10 usually.
Would you continue this salvage operation of hybriding a hybrid? I was hoping they could replace the pillowtop with the organic cotton version of their latex model and I’d zipper that onto this one with the latex insert but not an option. Next maybe putting the latex on top of the pillowtop with memory foam still in there? (mind you the new insert is a medium firmness and not talalay) or would you just recommend returning to a local charity and restarting on something different or a DIY? $2.5k CAD / $1.8k USD is my crossroads
Thanks for the help
