Hello. I’m a bit confused in this process of picking out an appropriate mattress from APM. Wife is 5’4" 160 and I am 5’8" 175. She is a side sleeper and sleeps cold. I am a back sleeper and sleep hot. I also have degenerative disk disease in my lower back.
We’ve tried out the local mattress stores and find we both like the firm models most.
Would you help end our confusion by recommending us a mattress? Thanks.

Latex is temperature neutral and your body heat will dissipate through the mattress and not get reflected back at you which creates a cooler sleeping mattress. She would need a heated blanket of some sort is my guess. Typically a side sleeper in her weight class is going to do better on something softer rather than firmer because of the pressure points created when side sleeping. If she truly does prefer a firmer mattress then then I would suggest our Adjustable Ultra Plush all latex model in the Medium/Medium core firmness and just the standard 2" soft topper. King or Queen Adjustable Ultra Plush Latex Sleep System (Blended), #1 Selling Latex Mattress- Adjustable Ultra Plush, Latex Mattresses-Talalay and Dunlop, All Products This model gives you the option to leave the 2" topper on top of the core or you can reverse it and put under the core for a firmer feel.

Thanks you very much for your reply. In particular, I appreciate your experience with the preferences of side sleepers. My wife complained about sleeping on a firm mattress at a resort.
Are there reasons to buy the latex model rather than a hybrid beyond adjust ability? I was most attracted to the hybrid models as I’d read they would last longer and were a bit cheaper.
Thank you very much for your time and expertise.

Firm mattresses do not allow the hips and shoulders to sink in much thus creating a pressure point which will cutoff circulation ending in a numb hip or shoulder. A softer mattress will allow the hip and shoulder to sink in more thus relieving the pressure in those areas. Latex mattresses have little to no motion transfer which is why so many choose it over the hybrids. Hybrids are cheaper and hold up well but I will not say that they hold up better than latex. If you prefer a Hybrid our Eco Sleep with the Bolsa coil upgrade is a great option. You can request a dual firmness for the latex with Firm on your side and Medium on hers as an example - Eco Sleep Hybrid Latex / Coil Mattress, Latex Mattresses-Talalay and Dunlop, All Products,

Thanks again! I just placed an order for the Adjustable ultra plush medium/medium with the 3" topper. I just figured it would conform to her when she’s on her side more. Perhaps I should have stuck with the 2". If you think this will be an issue it might be better to change the order.
How long is the warranty on that mattress?
I read the site a little closer and see that it has a 20 year warranty. Also thanks for the easy order modification and quick response.
