Assessing qualities of a mattress I am leaning towards and the process to find a good value base

Background:
This will be my first time buying a bed, but I have been feeling more confident after reading guides here on TMU and reading interactions in the forums. I am planning to buy a king sized mattress, a latex-hybrid and I was looking for something good value that I could try in person over here in Kansas City, KS. I and 6’3" and 198lbs putting me at a BMI of 24.7 per the calculator. I have had my same bed for ages and it is a hand-me-down that is too firm with a random 1" thick polyfoam (i think) topper, but it always motivates me to get up in the morning because if I lay in bed too long it will start to hurt my lower back. I am primarily a side sleeper (~80%), but I usually start the first few minutes on my stomach and am rarely able to sleep on my back. Anyways, I liked all the information I was reading about the durability of latex, but that it had an unusual feel so I set to trying out out in person. Tried a couple all latex mattress as well as several hybrids and liked the slight familiarity of the hybrids, the price as well as the weight (Likely to move a couple times in the next 5 years).

Mattress in Question:
Southerland- Wrangell mattress $2168.00
(seems to be maybe a regional manufacturer, tested it at a small family-owned shop)
Layers:
ThermoBalance quilted cover
3" of all-natural copper infused Talalay latex (100% natural latex)
1.5" support foam (5lb/pcf memory foam)
8" PowerEdge Eliter perimeter edge reinforced wrapped coils (1300 coils)
1.5" support foam (5 lb/pcf memory foam)
The details in the parentheses are provided by the salesman at the local mattress store who is very energetic about speaking on the mattresses. I tried to certify the densities with the manufacturer as well, but have not been very successful on reaching someone to help me outside of them confirming CertiPur certification. I don’t know anything about copper-infused into latex, but I assume it is more a marketing ploy than a benefit which makes me slightly leery. The bed was very comfortable to me conforming well to the body without any unpleasant pressure points, providing pressure up against areas that usually aren’t well supported on my current mattress (small of back and side right above hip) and the person I brought with me said that my spine looked straight (or mostly, hips might have been tilted in slightly lower). Assuming all those details are correct though, does it seem like a quality bed in your opinion and fitting someone of my BMI?

The Base:
It seems like from general information I would need a base with either a box spring, slats that are <3" apart from each other or an adjustable/solid base of some sort. I’m of the mind currently to not get a box spring and just get a solid base, possibly with minimal adjustable capabilities, but I’m trying to keep the cost of the base lower (maybe a max of $800). Any ideas or suggestions on where to look for bases that would fit the above mattress would be greatly appreciated or if you think there is a different mattress I should look into that I can feel in person I have been dedicating a lot of my free time to this decision and willing to look into it. My brain is just a little gassed out with mattresses and not ready to try and start from scratch searching for bases.

Thank you for your time and patience!

Let me chime in on this for a second. Being a Talalay specialist I do need to tell you the copper infused latex will dry out prematurely because copper will pull moisture away from the latex. It’s nothing you will be able to see because they do not use a zippered cover like we do but it will happen and thus decrease the life of the material. Regular blended or all natural talalay will not have that issue. Thank you for the heads up on that, I didn’t know it had that sort of reaction! I’m really trying to find something I can lay on in person before having it delivered, but I appreciate the suggestion and who knows I may end up going an online route so I’ll keep your tab up!

Also, the benefits of copper are only present with skin to skin contact so it’s really pointless in a mattress. You would be better served having copper infused sheets if there is anyone out there who makes them.
