Hello,
So, my question isn’t latex specific, but I see that this particular thread is geared toward adjustable bases, which I’m interested in.
Recent back story: I went to Jordan’s furniture Sleep Lab where they did their fancy computer thing on me and told me that I would be best with a medium soft foam mattress. They had me check out their name brand and only after I asked what their more popular bed was they took me to see the Tempurpedic. I had originally come in to look at latex but liked the foam better which surprised me. But, maybe knowing the computer results biased me.
Side note, I’m supposedly allergic to rubber, and l’ve heard many latex beds contain rubber. This is a contact dermatitis (eczema).
Less recent backstory: I’ve been having absolutely terrible sleep. I toss, turn, ache and have bizarre dreams. During the day, I deal with lower back pain (like in the small of my back, but it radiates around to the front). And my hips ache while I sleep (not during the day). The hip aching started when I got pregnant 3 years ago. I’m a side sleeper. I’m 5"1’, 175 lbs. so that means that I’m in the upper echelons of BMI (32.9) and working on getting it down. I’m at a job where I’m on my feet all day. I’m hourglass shaped. And in terms of actual sleep habits, since I get in late night, I don’t go to sleep until 1am, I get up around 5am. There’s potential for a nap around 11am-1pm before work at 3pm. So all in all, I’m getting 7 hours maximum of sleep.
My bed is a handmedown that is at least 12 years old. I don’t know the contents of it, but I do know that I have the box spring on the floor with a layer of plywood between that and the mattress.
In terms of budget, I’m willing to blow my entire tax refund on this bed as long as I can sleep like a human being. After doing some research, I thought maybe a custom bed is the way to go? If so, reputable dealers? If not, then maybe Latex (so my skin isn’t directly touching it) as the support and foam as the comfort? There’s so much information and it’s so easy to get lost. And of course, I do want the adjustable base, but it doesn’t need to be fancy. I do know that I would like a queen.
