bolsa, side sleepers and toppers

in an earlier thread you mentioned that you thought the bolsa was a better option [than the combi-zone] for side sleepers, since the lighter, 15g, coils would be more compliant, while the stiffer central/lumber area of the combi-zone might require extra cushioning. [i think i got that right.]

background info:
i am 5’8", about 200lbs, side sleeper
my wife is 5’2", 114lbs, back and side sleeper

a couple of questions:

  1. re the height of the bolsa coils- the eco hybrid you have has 6" coils. somewhere in my wanderings around the web i came across bolsa with 8" coils. what would be the effect of this difference? also i believe that the 8" bolsa came with the quantum edge. difference in performance vs the caliber?

  2. my wife likes firm, perhaps extra firm. i like medium firm. any advice on which topper[s] would be most appropriate?

thanks, and thanks for all your contributions to this site.

ps- just read in another thread you recommending all latex [not hybrid] for a side sleeper. i’m concerned about β€œroll off,” though. thoughts?

We use the Quantum Edge Elite Bolsa which is 6", not 8". The reason is with a 6" coil we can package the spring, cover and latex all in on box. With an 8" we have to split the shipment into 2 packages which ends up costing more in shipping charges. Because of the weight difference between the 2 of you, what feels firm to her will feel medium firm to you. If using the bolsa spring on the Eco Sleep I would recommend using the Medium #28 Talalay. Overall it would be a medium/firm feel to you and a firm feel for her.

I sleep on all latex an soft at that. I’ve never felt I was going to roll off and I sleep very close to the edge.
