Brooklyn Bedding Cool Symphony King experience

After a somewhat mild experience with a sleep number bed we decided to try out some temper pedic. We liked the cloud luxe the best and the rhapsody the second best. After talking with a few sales men we were pretty much sold on the cloud luxe. Then I started to research and find brooklyn bedding and dreamfoam.

The sales people at BB are awesome. I spent several nights asking Carlos question after question in between mattress researching. See I’m no european lightweight. I’m 6’1 320 lbs and at that weight I have to be careful about furniture because it won’t hold up unless its heavy duty. Carlos was the first to point out that a super soft bed like the cloud luxe might not be the best choice for me for two reasons 1) durability and 2) sinking in.

That kicked off the research and after easily 50 hours of research about construction methods, materials, and how everything fits together I basically concluded he was right. I needed a firm support bed. We liked the rhapsody so we went to a few places to test them out as much as they’d let us in the store.

Enter the cool symphony 12" king bed (comparable to the rhapsody). On paper it looks pretty good. BB has great service. The bed arrived today in a 150~ lb roll. I was expecting it to be much more difficult to get the plastic off than it was. It’s been sitting firming up for a few hours but the bed still feels cold from the delivery process. It hasn’t expanded to its full king size yet (it was 72 x 70 when it arrived, now it is 78 x 74) – so I won’t report back until Thursday to give it a chance to warm up.

The pillows that it came with (shredded latex: see link) are super soft. The texture of the cover is soft like rabbit fur or the edge of a feather. (It’s made of of neither of those materials, duh. That is just what it feels like to me.) I can’t think of anything closer in feeling. The Mrs. loves soft squishy pillows so she is in heaven with them.

The only negative so far is there aren’t any handles on the bed but that’s not a big deal.

We’ll see what a few days does and post back.

Hi zshguru,

Thanks for sharing your experiences and feedback …I appreciate it.

You’ve certainly made a great choice and I’ll be interested in your feedback when you’ve had the chance to sleep on it for a few days.

Most importantly … congratulations on your new mattress

Some thoughts after 2 nights on the mattress
It doesn’t feel as firm as the rhapsody or at least the rhapsodys I felt. It’s still firm but not as firm.
It doesn’t sleep hot by my standards (and I sleep HOT).
I don’t concave the mattress! It can hold my weight just fine.

Overall we are much happier with this mattress vs the sleepnumber I mentioned before (that one we never really liked). And this one was a lot cheaper!

Hi zshguru,

Thanks for the update
