Build help for 225lb DIY Latex with spring support

Im looking at two different spring systems and trying to figure out what hardness of latex i should use on top, as well as trying to find a cover thats not so expensive.

My weight is 225lb and im 5’11". I already have a glacier apex it’s just that im trying to venture into this as a hobby and im really curious how a latex with spring setup would sleep.

My options for springs are either the pocket spring store quad 14.75g springs, or the combi zone from mattresses.net

My options for latex, i prefer dunlop to talaylay and of course im looking at either medium or firm 3" on top of the springs. If anyone has any other suggestions of a layer to add feel free. Im just looking to have a discussion.

Also if anyone could recommend a cover thats natural and wont cost $300 id appreciate it. I was considering just buying a $14 8" polyester cover from walmart for the spring layer and then using a fitted tencel cover for the whole assembly which would cost about $70 in total.

Hi Gc123 and thanks for reaching out on this! Based on the information you’ve provided, I think you’d do best with 3" of medium for your top layer of latex. I used to recommend Foamorder.com for natural covers that are more affordable since they don’t have any wool in them, but I just talked to a Sleep EZ customer on Thursday that sid she’s been working with foam order for about 4 months and they cancelled her order because they’re short-staffed and back logged and she said she’s just not having a good overall experience right now.

Well i just ordered an extra inch of latex so just pure latex on top of springs is definitely something ill try out of all the builds i put together. Have about 10 different builds to try and will report back about them all here
