Hi! I am on the hunt for a new mattress for me and my partner. We are both heavy, plus size people, he weighs 275-300 lbs, side and back sleeper. I am 230lbs side and back sleeper as well. We had a hybrid memory foam mattress but it was fairly cheap and the memory foam has broken down pretty fast. I have done a ton of reading and think latex is the way to go, and I have always liked the feel of coils, so a hybrid like Cumulus seems like a nice choice. I have two concerns, are the coils heavy duty enough to support two heavy people? Is there enough of latex to provide some pressure relief? Especially for my partners shoulders as he is broad shouldered and mostly complains about that.
I am mostly nervous because it is a large purchase for me and there are no returns.
They’re a mid-range coils in terms of firmness, and sleepers in your weight range could use them. The main issue with heavier sleepers is that the coils and latex layers tend to wear out faster, but that’s unavoidable with any mattress.
Have you considered exploring a modular mattress design, such as our Presto or Unison latex mattresses. These are engineered with sustainability and longevity in mind, allowing you to replace only the components that wear out fastest (like the top comfort layers) instead of the entire mattress. This not only extends the life of your sleep system but also reduces waste and long-term costs. It’s a smarter, more eco-friendly way to invest in your comfort!
Best of luck to you, and feel free to ask more questions as you go through the process.
