Custom Sleep Technology Inc. Introduces 3D Body Scanning System Created to Transform Mattress Design

Custom Sleep Technology Inc. has introduced a 3D body-scanning system that integrates with its patented Body Profile Technology™ to create a more precise, data-informed approach to personalized mattress design, giving each sleeper a better opportunity to achieve higher-quality sleep.

The scanner captures detailed measurements of the individual sleeper, including height, shoulder width, hip width, body proportions, and relative body geometry. Those measurements are combined with weight and preferred sleep position, then processed through Custom Sleep Technology Inc.’s proprietary, AI-enabled, and algorithm-driven software to calculate a personalized, multi-layered, and segmented Talalay latex mattress configuration.

The introduction of 3D scanning represents the latest advancement in a process that already differs fundamentally from how most mattresses are selected and sold.

Beyond Adjustable Comfort

Many mattresses described as “personalized” still begin with a predetermined product design. The customer may choose a firmness level, adjust air pressure or select from a limited set of comfort options, but the underlying mattress remains largely standardized.

Custom Sleep Technology Inc. begins somewhere else: with the bodies of the people who will sleep on the mattress.

Two people can be the same height and weight and still have very different body proportions, shoulder widths, hip dimensions, and weight distribution. Those differences affect how deeply different parts of the body compress the mattress, where support is needed, and how the spine is positioned during sleep.

That is why broad categories such as soft, medium, and firm can only go so far. Comfort is subjective. Personalization can be calculated.

Custom Sleep Technology Inc.’s Body Profile Technology™ uses measurable body characteristics to determine how the mattress should be configured beneath different regions of the body. Instead of relying on one uniform internal structure, the mattress can use multiple Talalay latex densities, layers and segments to create differentiated support beneath the shoulders, lumbar region, hips, and legs.

For couples, each side of the mattress can be calculated independently. One sleeper does not have to compromise because the person beside them has a different body type, sleep position, or support requirement.

Greater Precision at the Beginning of the Process

The 3D scanner advances this process by creating a highly detailed digital body profile within seconds.

Its value is not simply convenience. By automating the collection of body measurements, the scanner adds precision, consistency and dimensional detail at the beginning of the design process. Those measurements become the foundation for the mattress configuration calculated through Custom Sleep Technology Inc.’s patented software.

The goal is not personalization for its own sake. A mattress that is more precisely fitted to the sleeper can provide more appropriate support, improve pressure distribution, and help maintain more natural spinal alignment throughout the night. Together, those conditions can greatly increase the likelihood of more comfortable, restorative and higher-quality sleep.

The 3D body scanner is now available to customers at Custom Sleep Technology Inc.’s showroom in Newtown, Connecticut. Customers who visit the showroom can have their measurements captured through the scanner and use the resulting digital Body Profile as the foundation for their personalized mattress configuration.

The scanning technology is also intended to support a future kiosk-based customer experience. That format has the potential to bring objective body measurement into additional retail and partner environments, creating a very different starting point for mattress selection.

Instead of asking, “Which mattress feels best during a few minutes in a showroom?” the process begins with a more useful question:

  • What mattress architecture best fits this body?
  • Personalized Online, Too

The 3D scanner enhances the precision and automation of measurement capture and provides an additional path into Custom Sleep Technology Inc.’s existing Body Profile process.

Customers throughout the United States can complete the Body Profile questionnaire online by providing their body dimensions, weight, and preferred sleep position. The same patented Body Profile Technology™ then calculates a personalized mattress configuration based on the information submitted.

Customers who complete the process online may also review their recommended configuration directly with Bob Zukowski, founder and CEO of Custom Sleep Technology Inc., who developed the company’s proprietary software and mattress-design methodology.

This gives customers two paths into the same personalized design system: an advanced 3D scanning experience or a convenient online Body Profile process.

Designed for Alignment, Pressure Distribution and Better Sleep

A mattress that fits the body more precisely can do more than feel comfortable at first contact. Its purpose is to provide the right balance of support and pressure relief beneath different regions of the body, helping maintain more natural spinal alignment during sleep.

That distinction matters because the shoulders, hips, and lumbar region do not interact with a mattress in the same way. A uniform surface may feel comfortable initially, but still fail to provide the differentiated support required across the body over the course of the night.

Poor alignment, inadequate support, and concentrated pressure can contribute to tossing, turning, and sleep disruption. By configuring the mattress around the sleeper’s actual body characteristics, Custom Sleep Technology Inc. creates the conditions for the body to settle into a more naturally supported position and for the sleeper to remain comfortable for longer periods of the night.

The result is a sleep system designed not simply to deliver an immediate impression of comfort, but to enhance the opportunity for deeper, more restful, and higher-quality sleep.

Custom Sleep Technology Inc. creates this differentiated support through an individually configured Talalay latex architecture assembled by hand according to the customer’s Body Profile.

The modular design also allows individual internal components to be adjusted or replaced if the sleeper’s body or support needs change over time. Weight change, aging, pregnancy, injury, physical activity, and other life events can alter how a person interacts with a mattress. Rather than automatically replacing the entire sleep system, the configuration can be revisited and modified.

A Different Model for Mattress Personalization

The addition of 3D body scanning makes the distinction between Custom Sleep Technology Inc. and conventional mattress design even clearer.

This is not personalization through a firmness preference, adjustable setting, or marketing claims. It is personalization based on the measurable characteristics of the individual sleeper, interpreted through technology protected by issued patents and translated into a mattress architecture built around that person.

The scanner makes that process more precise, more visible, and easier to understand.

More importantly, it connects mattress selection to the outcome that ultimately matters: creating the support, pressure distribution, and spinal alignment that give each sleeper a greater opportunity to achieve consistently better sleep.

It also points toward a future in which mattress selection begins not with rows of premanufactured beds, but with a detailed understanding of the body that will sleep on them.
