Hi,
I’m in the market for a king-size mattress since I’m moving in with my partner and am considering configuring my own. I currently have an Urban Mattress Gratitude that I bought in 2019, and was thinking about just getting one of those - but it looks like they don’t have the same configuration of layers, hence I am looking elsewhere and would be interested in whether the Sleep EZ experts think that I can configure something similar with their options. I am pretty happy with the Gratitude, but I am a side sleeper and sometimes I do have upper back and hip pain, so it may be worth tinkering with it a little to get some pressure point relief. However, the Gratitude is 1000 times better than the mattress my partner has! He’s slept on the Gratitude and finds it comfortable. I’m 5’4 and 130 pounds and he’s 5’11 and 180ish. Anyway, I did manage to get the specs from the old Gratitude from the Urban Mattress website before they disappeared, and they are:
-Outer layer: poly blend (don’t need to replicate this part, am happy with the cotton and wool cover offered by Sleep EZ) over 2 1.5 inch layers of 2.1 LB high density Certipur foam.
-Comfort layer: 2 inch 28 ILD Talalay latex and 2 inch of 19 ILD Talalay latex
-Support layer 6 inches of 2.5 lb ILD (Firm 35 ILD) HR Cold foam
Feel: medium
I have been looking at various customizable mattress sites and have to admit I am pretty confused by all the options, so I was hoping an expert could give me some pointers on what would be similar to these specs, but with maybe a little more pressure relief.
I’d love to be able to test out a mattress in person using the TMU technique as that was very helpful! But I’m in the Washington DC area and it seems options for that are limited now that even Urban Mattress has closed, so I like the idea of a mattress with layers that can be changed.
Any help or advice you can provide would be very very welcome!
Thanks!
Claire
