Can you tell me the difference in the overall feel between sleeping on an all latex mattress and a latex hybrid?
I realize the are many variables that have to be taken into account, but as an example, comparing an all latex bed with three 3" layers (100% medium natural talalay, 100% certified organic medium dunlop and 100% certified organic firm dunlop) vs a hybrid with 3" of 100% medium natural talalay over 8" individually wrapped coils with edge support, is there a significant difference in feel and support between the two for a 6’/195 lb side sleeper like myself?
Thanks for your help.
I can’t speak to a latex hybrid, but I can speak to all latex. All latex can be gently enveloping. You’ll find that all of your curves are touching the surface, the small of your back, the bend of your waist. The latex under you compresses but the latex with less pressure on it is not pulled down the lowest level of compression.
I heard one person compare latex to the broken in feeling of a new mattress, the feeling that lets you feel supported because you are laying “in” the mattress rather than “on” it.
I believe this question was directed at me since we make both latex hybrids and all latex designs. Here in our showroom customers prefer the feel of our all latex vs. hybrids about 3 to 1 and the general comparison is that they just feel more comfortable than the hybrids. On the same note we’ve had tons of positive feedback with the hybrids as well but most of those customers are not able to compare the 2 side by side. So an all talalay bed would be the best choice for someone your size who sleeps mainly on your side.
An all latex is more conforming than a hybrid and works better for side sleepers for sure. Talalay is a better choice for lighter people and for side sleepers where dunlop works better for heavy people who are mainly back or stomach sleepers.
