DIY Misadventure: Titan Plus Luxe Coil Defect or Zones?

Hey all!

Recently I’ve been having some bad back pain and decided to go down the route of DIY. Our mattress is only a couple of years old – a Titan Plus Luxe.

From extensive video watching, website research, and forum/subreddit lurking, it seemed like an option would be to re-use the coils in our current bed, since 1). It wasn’t that old 2). Coils last forever 3). We like the feel of a hybrid mattress instead of pure latex.

Ordered some parts, tore the bed apart, and discovered something interesting – one row of coils going across the mattress is depressed by about 1/2". It’s only one row, and it’s every single coil.

Is this a defect, or a zone? I wasn’t aware the Titan Plus Luxe had zoned coils.

If it is a defect, do I have an options other than to just buy new coils?

It’s possible it could be by design with some sort of zoning where those coils are meant to be firmer than the rest. It’s very odd that only one row would be like that unless by design. See if those coils feel firmer than the surrounding ones.
