Dlx premier hybrid first impressions

So I just wanted to share my first impressions of the new @DLX premier hybrid. A little about my fiancé and myself (130 lbs and 195 lbs). We are both side and back sleepers and were on a 15 year old tempurpedic. That mattress was horrible and I suffered from back pain and my arms falling asleep at night. After joining MUG I found Dlx mattress and contacted them for some suggestions. They took the time to look at mattresses that had worked for me in the past and ones I was considering from the big brands. They helped me to choose the premier hybrid in medium firmness. I was very excited to support a brand made in the US.

We ordered it less than a week ago and it came on Wednesday. We unpacked it and set it up and it was very easy to do following the videos they have on their website. Right out of the box we were super impressed with the quality and build of this mattress (queen size). We have only been on it for two nights, but my sleep has been so much better. No arms falling asleep and my back pain is so much less when I wake up in the morning. I know it’s only been a couple of nights but I am so happy I found this forum and Dlx mattress. I have nothing but great things to say about Dlx and would HIGHLY recommend them for anyone looking for a new mattress. Will try to update this periodically as we spend more time with the mattress. Hope that this could help others who may be considering Dlx.

We received our @DLX Premier Hybrid in February 2024. We’ve always owned a quality mattress, but the Premier Hybrid exceeds our expectation of comfort and support. I will encourage you by saying it gets better week after week. Enjoy your best sleeps ever.

Just wanted to add an update. It’s been two weeks now and this mattress keeps getting better. My sleep has improved so much and I have been getting high 80’s and 90’s sleep scores on my garmin. I never got sleep scores this high on the tempurepedic! My back pain continues to improve and I have not had a night where my arms have fallen asleep. Truly loving this mattress. Everything about the experience with Dlx has been positive. If you are contemplating Dlx I would highly recommend contacting them.

Which firmness(es) did you go with?

We chose the medium firmness. It is firm yet soft enough to be comfortable. To us it is the perfect firmness for what we were looking for. If you are between Dlx is so helpful would definitely recommend reaching out and talking to them.

As a back sleeper you feel enough support with the medium? I am worried it will be to soft I have a degenerative disc in my lower back and anything to soft will cause me to be in pain

Thanks for considering DLX. Everyone experiences a mattress a little differently based on height, weight, and body proportions. Over time we also develop a comfort baseline. Some people who have always slept on latex only find latex comfortable, while others with the same height and weight might only feel right on a spring mattress.

That’s why we encourage sharing a few details if you’d like us to give you an assessment. Let us know your approximate height, weight, and sleep position, plus the brand, model, and firmness of your current mattress (and any others you’ve owned in the past 5–7 years). That gives us better guidance to see if our mattress has a good chance of working well for you.

To be upfront, chronic pain like degenerative disc issues can be very personal and tricky to predict. We can’t guarantee that our mattress will completely eliminate back pain. That said, some people with degenerative disc issues have found the mattress supportive and comfortable without back pain

If you’d like, feel free to share more about your current setup and we’ll do our best to give you an straightforward recommendation.

Me 5ft 7 in 185 lb back sleeper
Her 5ft 6 inch 160 lb side sleeper

I prefer something more on “top” of the mattress with support

She prefers sinking in to take pressure off the joints due to her fibromyalgia

We have had sleep number (hated it”
Sleep ez ( loved the idea but I think we needed coils) felt to much push back

Currently on beautyrest black and I think it’s “to much fluff” makes me hot and she doesn’t have enough support

We completely understand how you’re feeling. Mattresses can be incredibly challenging. Even for us, it’s hard to recommend one with certainty. We can send the exact same mattress to ten people with the same height, weight, and sleep position, and the results are all over the map: six or seven might love it, two could find it too soft, two might find it too firm, and one person may just never get comfortable. It’s very personal and subjective.

Our recommendations are usually based on the fact that about 80% of people are comfortable out of the box, another 15% need to tweak it a bit to get it right, and around 5% simply won’t like it at all. To be straightforward, with degenerative disc issues and fibromyalgia in the mix, it does become harder to predict how any mattress will feel for you both. There are just so many variables at play.

In these situations, we often recommend visiting a local mattress maker so you can try different setups firsthand. Sometimes, a DIY route with layers and adjustments ends up being the best solution, but it does require trial and error. Another path that can work well is going with a solid, well-built mattress like our Essential and then customizing it with toppers to balance both of your needs. You with more of an “on top” supportive feel, and her with extra cushioning to relieve pressure.

We know it’s not easy, but we’ll always give you straightforward guidance to help you get as close to the right fit as possible.

Hey @rrindone
How’s the DLX Premier Hybrid’s medium firmness for side sleeping—does it cradle your shoulders and hips well?
