Double sided mattress

I want a mattress that can be flipped. It also must be size double bed extra long. I want pocketed coils in the center because I think they would be better than innerspring. I’m getting a new bed frame which will require a plywood platform or slats. I think the plywood would be better. Not sure my age makes a difference. I am 80 years old and very thin.
Guidance appreciated,
ann

Hi desinerann,

Thank you for reaching out. Immediately, two Trusted Members come to mind. @EngineeredSleep is known for their ability to create virtually any custom product. Another great option is @ShovlinMattress, who specializes in customizing mattresses to fit specific sizes.

I’m sure there are more options out there, but these are the first two that come to mind without much thought.

Hi @designerann - happy to help here as best I can!

Our Classic Hybrid Mattress line fits the description of what you are looking for.

We use a pocketed coil in each of our 3 options - ranging from Medium-Firm to Ultra-Firm.

We offer all of them in a Full XL (Double Extra Long) and they will work great on a platform bed.

Feel free to message me if you have any questions or you can call me at 864-630-5206.

Good luck in your search!

Hi @designerann !

We offer several two-sided mattresses. We recommend checking out our 12" Classic, Our Essential - Two Sided, and The Classic 14" - Two-Sided if you are interested in a two-sided pocket coil mattress.

Keep in mind that while we ship via FedEx to your home, we provide a service to come in and set up the new mattress and remove the old bedding. If you’d like this service, it is not listed on our site at this time, but you can email us if you want to add it to your order.

As for the base—plywood versus slats—both options are viable. The support under the slats or plywood is crucial; it should include cross braces and a center brace with legs touching the floor to support the plywood. For slats, they should be spaced no more than 3 inches apart, be at least 3/4" thick, and have a center brace with legs touching the floor. If you have a link to or additional information about the bed frame, please share it, and we can let you know if it will adequately support a well-built two-sided mattress. Keep in mind, if you live in a humid environment, plywood is susceptible to mold and mildew. However, with a two-sided mattress featuring springs, this issue is minimized because the quilting provides some air channels, and the springs assist in ventilation. Personally, my bed is on plywood without any issues, but your results may vary.

You may share here or email us at [email protected] your height, weight, sleep position, and any details about your current mattress, such as the model name, brand, and firmness, along with what you liked and disliked about it, and if you’ve tried anything recently. Then, we can recommend an appropriate firmness level.
