Firm latex mattress 6 inch or 2x3 inch layer

Is the 6 inches firm latex mattress comfortable enough by itself or need any additional layer?

Are two 3 inches firm latex layer (glued together) or one single 6 inches firm latex mattress will provide same comfort level or there can be any difference as far as comfort and firmness?

I am wondering the same! Currently I am working on a DIY build and am going with 2x3 inch firm layers for my core support layer. I am curious what the experts will suggest!
