At 5β11 230 Lbs. I have a disk-sciatica issue in my low back. This feels best with a solid firm mattress and Latex feels best. In addition I have a 5" metal plate holding my neck together and Kevlar in my shoulder thus as a side sleeper (and back) I prefer some softness for this/ medium Talalay feels great. Shopping seems to frustrate sales people as I have not found a bed to combo the two. I find it a bit funny that a salesperson expects a purchase after 45 minutes despite a willingness to spend $3K dollars or more!
Anyway I have liked a Tempur-Pedic and Dunlop/Talalay mattresses in both all foam or a hybrid. High end cushion firms/traditional beds feel good to me too. I have not slept on a good bed in years for the long term and am anxious to get going! I plan on an adjustable base (one that will also lower the legs/chair like). I want a queen size.
My partner is 5β5 and 120 Lbs. and she likes a softer top and medium cushion/support. I do not like a seem in between us either. So I know there is no perfect yet what could get me close?
Thanks for any detailed help and suggestion. I also am wondering why there are very few hybrid beds with more than 2-4" of latex/foam on them. In theory I like the thought of 3" Dunlop (40 ILD) with 2" of Talalay (24-28 ILD?) on top of a very good coil system. It would be great to have a 3" layer of the Dunlop/Talalay on the other side of the bed too so it can be flipped. Just my theory.
Thanks again. KM
