I’m trying to look for a long lasting mattress. I previously slept on a memory mattress and enjoyed it, but now it sags in the center due to body heat. I expect it to get better in the winter, but I thought I should look into getting something better. I was hoping to get another memory foam mattress, but it seems that foam layers are now less dense. So, I’ve been looking into hybrids, and I’m just wondering: are there any separate guidelines for foam density in hybrids?
I would suggest a Talalay latex mattress for longevity. It will outlast any polyurethane or memory foam on the market. If you are so inclined, take a look at our Talalay latex mattresses at CST. They are modular in design and specific to your body’s characteristics. In addition, our mattress can be modified in the future should your body characteristics change or a component fail.
It’s less likely the sagging is caused by body heat (although body heat does cause memory foam to compress as the night goes on). It can be a bit of a pain finding the right memory foam because as you mentioned, most mattresses that use it tend to choose a less dense, less durable option.
There aren’t separate guidelines for foam density in hybrids, so those guidelines stand. As for the shortage, I’m not sure! That’s a good question and I’ll ask around.
Are you wanting to stick with memory foam as a rule? Or are you looking into latex hybrids as well?
How long have you had your current mattress, and does it still give you a sinking/sagging feeling if you move it from the bed frame to the floor?
I’m sticking with memory foam. My mattress lasted a good 7 years. Getting into the bed is fine, but when it warms up, that is where it begins. I’ll try it on the floor. It might be the bedframe, though. I’ve been using plywood prior to changing to curved slats during winter… maybe I’ll just sleep on the couch, change out the slats and try again if the floor works out.
