165 lb side sleeper. Recently purchased Engineered sleep’s duo latex plus. I like the feel of latex but I think it’s a little too firm as it’s giving me hip pain. Out of curiosity I did try adding an (admittedly cheap) memory foam topper on the latex I currently have and it was too soft. Not sure what topper I should try next. I’m worried the memory plus topper from ES will be too soft. I was leaning towards the duo performance topper but I’m worried that will be too firm as their website says it’s similar to latex. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks!
Based on your info I would recommend either a 2" Talalay #19 Soft or if you need a big change you would get a 3" instead - Talalay & Dunlop Latex Toppers - Bare, Latex Mattress Toppers and Cores, All Products, I’m a side sleeper and I use the 3" and no hip pain at all.
The engineered sleep duo latex plus uses a 3" layer of soft latex in the top.
My question is do you have the softer side of the base facing up?
The one thing that makes engineered sleep duo feel firm is the fact they use 14.75g quadcoils in the base, though there’s also a 1.5" layer of very soft avena foam on top of the springs on the soft side.
I’m trying to take an estimated guess on what to tell you to use instead.
The memory plus topper is 4" while the latex plus is 3". I think that would be your best option from ES. Because it has memory foam plus latex which will settle down the over responsiveness of latex. I prefer the latex on top of the memory foam which they would probably do for you, but the original way is great as it is. Just figure out do you want it to feel a little more responsive on the top or more conforming?
