Help deciding pocket coils or latex core support

Hi, I need help deciding between pocket coils and latex support core please. What is the main difference and things to consider?
We have been sleeping on an innerspring but are making a switch over to natural latex. We are considering diy or premade latex or latex hybrids.

Also, if all latex is it best to get a firm or medium Dunlop latex for support core? We both have chronic back pain so need the spine stability but also mostly sleep on side (and some back) so need a comfortable pressure points for hips and shoulders. Any build suggestions? TIA

Thanks for reaching out, pocket coils will deliver a more familiar feel and of course a lot more bounce than latex. It also has more motion transfer vs latex. Before I make a recommendation I would need to know how much each of you weighs?

Thanks for the info. Here is our weights:

Based on your info I would go with Medium dunlop for the base core and a dual firmness 3" natural talalay comfort layer with your side being plush and medium for the other. This will offset the weight difference and still offer good support and pressure relief. Thank you, I’ll check out the link. Can you tell me why you’d recommend a medium for the core base instead of a firm?
Also, any reason for only 2 layers instead of 3?

Side sleepers need the core to give more in order to reduce the pressure points in the hips and shoulders. That’s why medium works better followed by a soft top on the lighter persons side and medium for the heavier person.

A pocketed coil unit without a scrim sheet (as they were designed to be made) will have no bounce and will hit your pressure points. The true purpose of a pocketed coil is to have no bounce and have coil isolation so they don’t give the trampoline effect.
Unfortunately over time, companies started adding the scrim sheet to help with manufacturing process, and it became the norm. A true pocketed coil unit has no scrim and has perfect pressure relief.
Obviously the rest of your build will play a role in the feel as well.
If you chose Texas Pocket Springs , the 8" QuadCoil in 15.5 gauge would be the unit for you and your spouse.
