Hello,
I have been looking around this website for some time now, and I am ready to purchase a new mattress. I am interested in latex mattresses and have been to a couple of stores locally in San Diego.
I went to Escondido Mattress Factory , but the latex mattresses I tried there seemed a bit too thin. I understand that the active box spring is supposed to provide some support, but overall I wasn’t sure with the mattresses there.
I also went to Euro-Flex, and the mattresses there seemed perfect. They were at least 9" of 100% talalay latex, and could customize it to any densities you want, but the price tag was $4000 for a king!
What is a good price for an eastern king sized 9" 100% Talalay Latex mattress? It must be much more affordable than $4000? Is there a place online that I could get the same quality at a bargain price? I really don’t want to go back to a spring mattress.
Thank you!
Hi chawchip,
You may have seen this already but the better options and possibilities I’m aware of in the San Diego area are listed in post #2 here. There are many good options for latex mattresses in the area and if you are open to travel a little there are even more in the Los Angeles list in post #2 here.
I would also make sure you’ve read the mattress shopping tutorial here which also includes this link to a list of the members here sell mattresses online and that all compete well with the best in the industry. Many of them make latex mattresses that use all the different types and blends of latex with a wide range of designs, features, and options with a wide range of prices as well and would also be well worth considering if you are open to an online purchase.
There are many factors that are part of the “value” of a mattress purchase (see post #13 here) besides just the price and the price of a mattress depends on many variables including the type and blend of the latex, the amount of latex in the mattress, the design and construction of the mattress, the type and cost of the cover, and many other factors including the pricing policies and margins of the retailer or manufacturer you are dealing with and the wholesale cost they pay so it’s not really possible to answer a question that has so many variables or is so generic. The “value” of a mattress also depends on what else is available to you and what you are comparing it to. Having said that … there are certainly many king size mattresses that use 9" of Talalay latex in a good quality cover that are significantly less than $4000 (and in some cases closer to half the price) and there is certainly no reason to spend that much on a high quality latex mattress unless there was a compelling reason to do so.
