I think I am just broken… Seesh this is getting expensive.
Started with a Beliot mattress co, sent it back two seperate times for adjustments and just could not get it right. I cannot stop with sore/numb hips. 5’8 side sleeper 175lbs. Fairly fit.
-Tried a costco memory foam and then didn’t seem to be the right fit.
-Tried bot the 2in and 3in from sleep on latex. The 2 was slightly better than the 3, but my hips were so sore at night.
-Just got a Sleepez 3in Medium Talalay topper and it does seem to be the most comfortable, but my lower back is tight and my hips are sore. Even after a short while.
Is that sleep ez too thick? Too firm? Not firm enough? At this point I have no clue. Looking for all suggestions.
I just want to say you’re not alone. I’ve been sleeping on my couch and I’m so sleepy deprived and in pain that I cry every day. I don’t know why it’s so hard to get a mattress that I can sleep well on without pain.

It’s hard to ‘diagnose’ from afar, but here are a couple of things you might try:
If you could have someone look or take a pic while you are laying on your side on the mattress. Your spine should be neutral, and of course, if it isn’t, that causes pain and soreness. This way you can see if you are sinking too low and can help you decide if you need more firmness or more softness.
When I started having soreness in my hips (also a side sleeper, like you) a medical professional suggested sleeping with a pillow between my knees. I don’t know if you are already doing this, or if it would help you - but it is worth a try.

We normally recommend soft Talalay topper for folks under 200 pounds that sleep on their side or back. That combined with the fact that you’re getting hip pain leads me to think the topper is too firm.
I really think I need latex because it’s the only material that pushes back AND “cradles” the pressure points
Memory foam cradles but no push back, even the new responsive foam isn’t good enough
Springs push back but don’t cradle
I was thinking today that the main problem is that latex is usually one slab. It is not zoned. Memory foam is more often zoned with lumbar support.
So latex is either going to be perfect for your hips OR your shoulders, not both.
I read on here that the Flobeds Vzone is a zoned latex mattress with lumbar support. So you buy the firmness that is best for your shoulders and the zoning takes care of your hips. The price is out of reach for me, though. So I’m just going to accept sleeping with a pillow between my knees on my side or under my knees on my back. I use the ComfiLife pillow.
I’m currently on the Nest Finch all talalay latex mattress in Firm 6” base, Firm 3” comfort layer, with their 3” soft topper over it. I am redeeming their exchange program to switch to the Medium comfort layer so it will be f/m/s.
I love memory foam beds when I first may on them but after a few hours they compress too much. I was previously using a Stearns & Foster Lux Estate Hybrid in Plush. It had all the fancy types of memory foam and micro coils and pocket coils. It was lumbar zoned. It was great for a nap but not a full night’s sleep
When I talked with your rep, they suggested medium because I was 175lbs. I even questioned that and they still suggested medium… Maybe a Soft would be better? I would be willing to try it, but packing that medium up was the biggest pain ever!
Really that’s so bizarre, I’m so sorry about that! Well given your feedback, it seems like soft is going to be a better choice and hopefully is your ideal setup.
Let me give it some thought. Even though the support on over email was helpful, it was beyond a pain to package that thing up and wouldn’t want to experience that again if a soft doesnt work either.
I’m not SleepEz. I have done business w them in the past (several times). They are good business ppl. If I were them I’d take the loss and ship you the soft talalay. No questions asked and no requirement for repackaging. etc.
