How to move a latex mattress.

Ken - Some other questions came up today that I figured you can help me with. We will be purchasing a queen size latex mattress in the not to distant future. After the mattress is on the bed, how do we safely move it when we need to paint behind the bed (the whole bed will need to come away from the wall). We will also (at some point) need to move the mattress/bed when we have new carpeting put down. Since we don’t have one of those machines that fold up the mattress to a smaller size, how do we lift a heavy latex mattress without tearing it. Does the mattress need to stay flat after it’s moved off the bed frame or can we lean it against a wall or ???

The easiest way is to unzip it and move the layers individually, they can be folded and put out of the way. The other way is to have a party and coax your friends into helping move it in one piece.

Ken - Thanks for the information. The reason I have concerns about moving the latex mattress is I am 71 years old and it might be a problem lifting the mattress since they are so heavy. Since I hadn’t seen any questions relating to what to do with it after it is in place (and may need to move it for whatever reason) I wanted to see what you had to say about it. Again, if it is moved out of the way, can it be folded in half or put on its side without harming the latex?

Absolutely, no problems with laying on it’s side. Folding it will not harm it, after all it’s rolled and compressed when shipped.

Ken - Thanks again for all the information. This is helping me decide that latex is the way to go when choosing a mattress.

You are very welcome, that’s what I’m here for.
