Hey so I’m new to the mattress industry and how uneducated most people are so here I am. Some info about me
I only need a mattress for 5 years, I sleep on my side and stomach, I’m short and light, I have a tight budget of $600 for a queen size, and I can sleep a little hot. I prefer soft and plush mattresses.
I found the Voila mattress plush version, ($600 with discount code) and really like how it has edge support, good cooling, latex for bounce and the memory foam on top for comfort but someone here said the top layer of memory foam is 3lb and it’s what gets to most pressure, so now I’m scared it’ll sag fast, and also it comes from China so it’s been compressed for awhile, and on top of that I also
heard that the “plush” is a lot more firm than expected. Would this mattress last me 5 years? Is it ideal for side sleepers? I’m less than 100 pounds as well so maybe it’ll be easier on the foam? Or, do you guys have any cheaper or same price DIY’s or just better mattresses I could get? Thank you in advance
Thank you for the questions. China is well known for inferior quality and inconsistent firmness in mattresses. Their latex not well made and the memory foam will be hot to sleep on. At your weight you might get 5 years out of it but my fear is that is won’t be soft enough for you. A better option would be to get just a raw latex 6" SOFT core and put either just a fitted sheet or a zippered mattress pad. This is money much better spent. Made in America, super high quality and extremely comfortable not to mention non toxic! Here’s the link to the item - 6" Talalay Blended Latex Core, All Natural and Blended Latex Cores, Latex Mattress Toppers and Cores, All Products
You can always get a nice cover for it later but many people just use it in the raw form. The cover will extend the life but if you only need 5 years you will certainly get that.
