Hi Ken,
I’ve been doing my research, I think I’ve pretty well read everything on this site now, and I do know a few things but overall I’m honestly pretty stuck and I’m wondering if you might be able to help me? I feel like I’ve got something of an impossible combination and list of needs.
- So first off, my budget limitation isn’t as high as I wish it was. I’m in Canada and I’m thinking around 1500-1700 CAD (which maxes me out at ~1270 usd).
- The next major thing is the differences between me and my partner
[li] I weigh 115lbs and I’m 5’5. I’m a stomach sleeper although I do also sleep on my side sometimes and I do tend to move around a lot during the night.[/li]
[li] My partner weighs 400 lbs and is 5’11. He sleeps on his side.[/li]
From what I understand, we’re going to need a mattress that is at least 12" thick to accomodate him (which somewhat complicates the budget issue). We both prefer something of a softer feel to our mattresses. He also needs some measure of bounce so he can get in and out of bed.
From what I’ve been reading, based on the fact that I sleep on my stomach and I’m so light weight I need a thinner and firmer(ish?) comfort layer, where as he’ll need a thicker and softer/firmer? comfort layer.
- I like the sounds of natural latex but unfortunately an entirely latex bed is beyond my price range and I’m also not sure if it’s even the right fit for us? I’m certainly not opposed to combining foam and/or springs with latex. We both sleep a bit hot so memory foam might not be the best choice for us either. I’m a bit lost and would really appreciate any advice you might be able to give me around figuring this out. Thank you!
Warm regards,
Rachel
