Hello all! Recently my current mattress (Serta Perfect Sleeper Elkins II Plush Euro Top 11 inch Queen) that I purchased 5 years ago has started to show its signs of wear & is giving me hip pain, as well as I woke up with an extreme pain in my back about 2 weeks ago out of nowhere that has been persistent. That I am not 100% sure is a source from the mattress, however after a visit from the doctor yesterday I was told I have a lot of stress on my muscles + nerves from decreased lordosis.
Anyway, after being on the search for a new mattress, I never knew that there was so much information out there but I do feel quite overwhelmed by it all as I have spent a lot of time going through a lot of different options, what’s worth it for the money as well as what wont be a total piece of garbage.
I am 5’11 and around 200-210lbs, a side/side stomach-ish combo sleeper. I also am working on a low budget unfortunately, I just don’t have a bunch of money to shovel out for a mattress currently. At most $1000 for a Queen, I prefer plush/soft, I also looked into getting a latex topper for comfort as well as helping with cooling as I tend to sleep warmer.
Please let me know if you have any recommendations, I’m ok with the mattress not lasting incredibly long as I know my budget is low, I’ll take any help! Thank you!
Hi Usahana and welcome to the forums and thanks for the inquiry! You might want to consider the Roma mattress by Sleep EZ - https://sleepez.com/product/roma-latex-mattress/ It’s an outstanding value and an excellent mattress. It has only a 3% return rate and the industry average for mattress returns is 15-20% with some companies as high as a 35% return rate. So 97% of customers that buy it absolutely love it! The price right now is $909 and you can use the coupon code MUG5 at checkout to get your 5% Mattress Underground discount. That drops the price down to $863.55 with no charge for shipping. It’s a latex mattress and should last 10 - 15 years.
My personal favorite is the nest and wild hybrid. It is plush and conforming, a 4.5/10 firmness, yet provides durable support with a texas pocket springs base. The top layer of foam is a hybrid foam he makes in house with latex and memory foam blended and is open cell for airflow, and the cover is a high quality cooling cover. It comes with a 15 year warranty.
The Roma mattress listed above is also a good deal, especially considering it comes with two pillows.
