Am leaning strongly to making two of my own king mattresses. I’m looking for advice on preferred vendors offering components to the DIY’er.
One needs to be light, short (9" - 10" tall) reasonably comfortable, and an odd size. I detest memory foam, could probably live with HD foam, and really like the full latex mattress I own now. I lean towards HD foam at the bottom layer with 2" to 4" latex on top. Maybe 1/2" of wool on top of it all?
The other is more open. I again want latex in the comfort zone, don’t care how the base is made or overall weight, and can accept up to 11" in height. I’m tempted to use two twin power bases, so likely this needs to be (2) twin XL’s instead of a king, but that’s a TBD.
If I wanted the top 5 players that offer components and solutions who would they be?

This sounds like a great project, and you’re clearly thinking along the right lines in terms of materials and construction—especially avoiding memory foam and using latex in the comfort zone.
