Latex Sofa Cushions

I’ve got a 1970s R. Huber barrel sofa, loveseat and chair set that’s in need of refurbishing. Having young children around, I’m reluctant to have them re-upholstered, but I would like to replace the cushion foam.

Bottom cushions are ~3" thick, 24.5" x 21.25", back are ~3" thick, 17.5" x 21.25".

I’ve been researching latex as a replacement for my current memory foam bed-in-a-box. It’s left me wondering if 40 ILD Dunlop latex would make good sofa cushions.

Nice re-upholstered example:

Good morning madhatt,

Welcome to TMU!

Absolutely! We’ve done it in the past because 40 ILD firm Dunlop latex makes excellent sofa cushions. The only down side is that they are more expensive than 2 lb HD foam or 2.75 lb HR foam, but they will outlast any polyurethane foam. If you are interested, can you please send me a direct quote on our contact page and I’ll be happy to provide you with one.

Did I answer all your questions?

Please let me know if you need any further information.

All the Best!
