I need help exchanging layers in my new Sleep EZ 10” Select Sleep Organic latex mattress to which we added our basically new 3” Dunlop topper (25 ILD?). We love the mattress so much! My husband’s side is perfect and my sleep quality is so much better it’s amazing the difference it’s made in my life. However I am waking up with numb arms and on occasion tingling legs so I need to adjust the layers.
I have chronic pain, degenerative disc issues, fibromyalgia and my BMI is over 31. I have to sleep on my side. I had a Talalay mattress for 15 years, and I don’t like the springy feeling of Talalay compared to Dunlop. I know if someone says “pressure points” the go-to recommendation is Talalay, but I don’t think it’s right for me. The problem is I can’t seem to get someone to recommend anything else. I believe the Talalay fans are making what they think is the best solution but I have a lot of experience with Talalay and my body. I love latex and am not interested in non-natural products. I am running out of my exchange window time and would love to get a different perspective.
What layer would you recommend I change so my shoulder can sink in better and not feel like it’s being pushed upward? I think the lower back could be slightly less firm but I don’t want to lose any support.
Thanks so much for any different perspectives you can give me.
My current Select Sleep Organic Latex Mattress 10” is arranged like this (top to bottom):
TOP LAYER - 3” OMI Wave Dunlop Sculpted topper
This is an item we already owned and I think it is essential in alleviating my pressure points (in cotton stretch casing. I think the ILD is 25 but not sure). It’s only a few years old.
