like laytex but need more motion isolation

Hi,

We have a SleepEZ Queen with soft/med/firm layers from 2013. I’ve like the mattress for the most part. However, my spouse doesn’t like the lack of motion isolation and prefers a tempur pedic type bed. In addition, the bed cover seems to have stretched out and the split layers are more noticeable in the middle. Is there anything that can be done to add more motion isolation? Or should we be looking for a different mattress type?

Thank you!

The obvious solution could be to have separate beds next to each other (does provide perfect isolation and comfort exactly as you choose). Although to me if you are happy with the mattress already and the cover is zippable then I would suggest getting a new cover (SleepEZ can certainly help you with this), then I would build your husband the type of mattress he wants internally for his side of the mattress. You may feel a bit of a difference in the middle of the mattress as you roll towards his side or vice versa but it will be way better than rolling into the crevasse made by two separate beds next to each other. Doing it this way should provide a good tradeoff (motion isolation and comfort) giving you both the best night’s sleep possible. You may need to do some experimenting with the poly and memory foams to get him exactly what he wants but I would say it’s totally doable. Another option could be simply buy a Tempurpedic he likes and put it inside the cover (really would only work if your mattress was a king, if it was a queen you’d have to cut the foam to fit which is quite difficult on a thick mattress). This second method would likely void any warranties and Tempurpedics are expensive so if it were me I would probably talk to some of the member mattress manufacturers on here (MFC is really good in this area) that specialize in poly/memory foam designs and build him what he wants. I think this will likely work out better for you and be much cheaper in the long run.

I would get a new cover and continue to enjoy all the benefits of latex. That will squeeze the layers back together and eliminate the gap. Memory foam is awesome if you are a chiropractor. Great for business because it lacks support in the small of your back. Latex on the other hand offers resistance which equals support. So the question is do you want to trade all the benefits of the latex like sleeping cooler, non toxic and supportive for a little more motion isolation and a back ache?

Thanks everyone for the feedback! Laytex is awesome until it isn’t for my spouse. So, will keep working on this. Have a great week everyone!
