Looking for advice about a Kingsdown Crown Imperial mattress

I’m thinking about buying a Kingsdown Crown Imperial Firm with Euro Top, but am concerned it might be too firm or not durable in the long term and was hoping for advice.

I’m a 5’7” male (170 lbs) who sleeps on my back. I’ve been sleeping on a i10 Sleep Number for the past few years, but find that it doesn’t adequately support my lower body, so I end up sleeping with my head quite a bit above my hips.

As a result, I decided I would explore a different mattress. I initially looked for a Stearns and Foster, since that’s the mattress I sleep on when visiting family and I found it to be super comfortable. My family has an older Stearns and Foster 2019 Hurston firm with a pillow top, so I tried what I’m told is its equivalent, the Stearns and Foster Estate Firm with euro-pillow top.

It was initially comfortable, but after about two hours, I found myself sinking deep into the mattress, which hurt my back and really rounded my shoulders painfully.

I went back to try laying on a Stearns and Foster Estate Firm tight top, the Purple Restore Plus soft and firm, and the Purple Premier Restore. The Estate Firm was firmer but still had a surprising amount of sink once I’d been laying in it for about 40 minutes. The Restore Plus firm was way too firm. The Restore Plus soft felt relaxing but for whatever reason, my head sank below my hips, which caused a lot of painful tension in my lower torso. The Restore Premier was even worse in that respect, and had more sink.

A very helpful sales assistant then suggested I try the Kingsdown Crown Imperial Firm with euro top. I was worried about how firm it might be, but it was surprisingly comfortable, with very minimal sink yet some relaxing give. And my body seemed to retain pretty good alignment even after about 40 minutes.

But I’m worried about buying it. This Kingsdown is far firmer than the other choices I’ve been trying. I know from prior experience that I sleeping on my back on an overly firm mattress hurts me (years ago, I had a Saatva Classic). I’m concerned that this Kingsdown may be too firm, or will take a very long time to break in. Also, I found several reviews complaining that the mattress began to sag in a short amount of time.

Do you know how firm the Kingsdown Crown Imperial firm with euro top is on a scale of 1 to 10? Also, do you have any advice on how durable it is? Should I be very nervous about the sagging complaints?

If it’s helpful, here is a link to Kingstown’s website for its Crown Imperial collection: Crown Imperial Collection | Kingsdown

Any help would be much appreciated!

You liked it after 40 min…..thats a great start!!! It might be for you!

I really like BackScience. I have the BS2. Its a great combo of pressure relief and alignment. “Perfect alignment while laying on a cloud”

Im out of town and in a hotel mattress….its terrible!

Best wishes!
