Looking for recommendations for someone with hip pain

Thank you! This site is extremely helpful! I’ve learned so much!

We’ve decided to buy a split-king adjustable bed, and need a pair of new mattresses to go with it

I am leaning towards the SleepEZ Organic Latex mattress, but need some help determining how to configure it.

Hubby and I both turn during the night, and sleep on our sides and our backs.

I’m 5’6", 165 lbs, have chronic hip pain, and can’t sleep on memory foam because I get too hot. So I need something that doesn’t let me sink in so far that I get hot, but still cradles my hips so they don’t hurt too much.

Hubby is 5’6", 185 lbs, and prefers a firm mattress.

Do you have any recommendations for us?

Thanks again!

Hello sdinaz and thank you so much for the inquiry! Based on the information you’re provided, I would absolutely recommend the 10" organic latex mattress, and I would definitely recommend soft Talalay for the top layer, medium Talalay for the middle layer, and firm Dunlop for the bottom layer for your side, and medium Talalay over medium Dunlop over firm Dunlop for his side. The top soft and / or medium Talalay layer(s) should provide all the contour and pressure relief needed to avoid any pressure point issues and will add secondary support to the mattress. The Dunlop layer(s) should provide all the support needed to maintain proper spinal alignment and avoid back pain. I recommended Talalay for two of your layers because Talalay is bouncier and springier and is generally better at contour and pressure relief on your hips and shoulders. However, Dunlop is denser and firmer and is generally better at support and maintaining proper spinal alignment, so having one Dunlop layer at the bottom might be good to give you just a little more back support. Aside from that, please keep in mind that this is typically a 15-20 year mattress, and if 5 or 10 years go by and you develop back pain, hurt your back, or something happens where you need more back support, being able to move a firm Dunlop layer to the middle of the mattress will make for a greater increase in back support than if you were to move a firm Talalay layer to the middle of the mattress. So in the long and short time, it might be helpful to have at least one Dunlop layer at the bottom, just in case.

Thank you so much for your quick reply! I’ve placed my order, looking forward to a good nights sleep

OK great, thank you so much for the order! I’m sure you’re going to love it, but if you don’t please let us know and we’ll let you know exactly what changes to make to get it to be your perfect mattress!
