I’m thankful I found this website and I’ve been reading through all the information until my brain went Whoa, so I’m seeking help.
Quick history…we started with a waveless waterbed but hubs doctor said get rid of it. Then purchased a hotel mattress which worked well for years. Next we purchased a name brand (Sealy or Serta) which worked for my hubs, but not so much for me. We bought one locally, from City Mattress and that was a disaster. The last one was from a small local dealer that did not live up to the hype. Let’s just say that during these failures I’ve slept on the inner spring futon in the guest room, the recliner or on blow up mattress from Walmart on the floor. My hubs never knew where he’d find me in the mornings because I have back issues. For the last 2+ years we’ve both been sleeping on twin air mattresses sized from 8" to 20" high on the raised slats of our king bed frame. We are tired of replacing air mattresses that deflate during the night and long for a regular mattress. Unfortunately I’m also on a tight budget. I’ve looked a Amazon which is filled with low cost king mattresses but I’m afraid I’ll regret whatever I purchase there.
I have also seriously looked at the Glacier Original mattress which is at the top of my budget, but I’ve concerns with how firm it really is and how cold the cooling feature might keep me during the night as I get cold very easily. If it’s possible I am looking for advice and recommendations as to what and where I can find something in my budget.
Personal facts: both my hubs and I are under the 30 BMI.
We are both in our 70’s, he’s about 5’ 8" and weighs approx 184 pounds. He has some back issues and loves a very firm surface to sleep on.
I’m 5’4" and weigh about 153 pounds (side note…I’ve dropped over 130+ pounds in the last couple of years). Unfortunately I have major back issues including IS joint issues and I sleep on cervical pillow, so while I need a firm mattress I also need some cushioning. I need help so suggestions and your knowledge will be so appreciated.
