Lower weight adjustable frame options for a panel storage bed?

We ended up ordering a new king storage bedframe (yes, from West Elm, and yes, I know… tsk tsk), with a “3 panel system for the base to be able to cover the drawers”. We hadn’t thought of this before, but it says max weight of 600 pounds, which I assume means mattress + people? That is unfortunate as that feels low; any options out there for a lower weight zero clearance frame that may help us stay under or close to the weight? I don’t want to give up on mattress quality, so we may just need to give up on idea of adjustable frame - which is fine, we hadn’t thought of that until we started looking at mattresses.

Hi Broksonic478.

Welcome to our Mattress Forum

Yes, it is most likely a 600 combined person and mattress weight. Do you happen to know the weight of your mattress (or the mattress you’re hoping to use with the frame?)

There are definitely options out there but if you don’t need a 1000 lb clearance, that is going to put you (likely) in a different price range.

About 130 for mattress, about 400 for us combined. So that doesn’t leave a lot of room without somehow adding support more, I guess. Just not sure how best to do that given drawers under….

The weight of the adjustable base will depend on the size of the bed frame. The adjustable bases we sell are as follows: Queen at 127 pounds, One-Piece King at 145 pounds, and Split King at 198 pounds. The height is 5 inches—Zero-Clearance, No Legs.

If you need something lighter, you might consider adding a foundation to increase the height. It’s best to know the height of the bed frame from the floor to the panels, the height of the mattress, and the desired height from the floor to the top of the mattress to determine the height for the foundation.
