The mattress I’m in love with is an extra soft. Unfortunately for me I’m a 220 lb lady with lower back problems. I was told I need a medium to firm mattress which I bought. Any recommendations on a mattress topper that would give me the extra soft pillow top experience?

Sorry to hear about your lower back issues. The real question isn’t just which topper will give you that extra soft, pillow-top feel, though a featherbed topper or a 3" soft Talalay latex topper will likely provide the comfort you’re looking for.
More importantly, consider what kind of foundation is being used with the new mattress. Also, what is the firmness level of the new mattress? Terms like medium, medium-firm, or firm are subjective, and each company has its own standards for rating firmness.
Once we have a complete understanding of all the components, the mattress build and construction, along with the foundation being used, we’ll be able to make a more accurate assessment of the overall situation.
